How-To Guides
How to melt wax beads using the Wax Spoon:
To melt wax beads with a wax spoon for sealing a letter, follow these steps:
Prepare Your Materials: Gather your wax beads, wax spoon, candle that offers a minimum of 2 inches between the bottom of the spoon and the top of the flame, a toothpick, and your envelope.
Set Up Your Work Area: Choose a flat and heat-resistant surface to work on, and protect the surface underneath from any wax drips as needed.
Place the Spoon over Heat Source: Using a heat source like a candle or a dedicated wax melting setup, carefully rest the double handles on the rim or ledge of heat source, ensuring the heat is directly in the middle of the spoon.
Add Wax Beads to Spoon: Place 2 wax beads into the spoon, and stir as needed using a toothpick. Be careful to not overflow the spoon.
Wait for the Beads to Melt: The wax beads will gradually melt in the spoon. Avoid overheating the wax as it can catch fire or produce unpleasant fumes.
Seal Your Letter: Once the wax beads have melted into a smooth liquid, use a heat protectant cloth to grab the spoon handle, and carefully pour the wax onto the area of the letter where you want to place the seal.
Apply the Seal: Press your seal or stamp into the melted wax firmly but gently. Hold it in place for a few seconds to let the wax cool and set around the design.
Let It Cool: Allow the wax to cool and harden for a few minutes before handling the letter. This will ensure that the seal sets properly and doesn't smudge.
Remember to practice caution when working with hot wax to avoid burns or accidents. With these steps, you can create a beautifully sealed letter using wax beads and a wax spoon.
